The Management Authority of the Sanganeb Marine National Park and Dungonab Bay – Mukkawar Island Marine National Park – Wildlife Conservation General Adminsitration (WCGA) and the Sudanese Development Initiative (SUDIA) convened a two-day workshop to develop their joint work plan for the Sudan marine parks for the year 2021. This joint planning workshop between SUDIA and the WCGA was the first of its kind and comes as part of a five-year partnership between the two entities signed in November 2020. The joint planning meeting was meant to help the partners develop more concrete actions which they would strive to implement in 2021, and that would be aligned with the Integrated Management Plan (IMP). The planning meeting brought together two of the WCGA marine park staff based in Red Sea State, together with the WCGA director and the Director of National Parks (at headquarters level in Khartoum), SUDIA Managing Director and the Chair of the National Man and Biosphere (MAB) Committee in Sudan. The planning meeting featured presentations and discussions from all the parties and culminated in the elaboration of an action plan for the MPA for 2021. The action plan responds to objectives of the IMP falling under the (1) General Management Programme, (2) management of ecological values; and (3) Management of social values. ![]() |
